MT. VISION – Louie S. Barnes, 63, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his home with his loving wife by his side.
Louie was a member of Church of Christ in Cooperstown and Numismatic Club in Oneonta.
He worked for State University at Oneonta for 39 years.
Louie loved farming with his sons and grandsons. He and his granddaughter loved having their chickens. He and Betty enjoyed their trips and little get a ways with his brother-in-law, Iver and wife, Lil. Louie will always be remembered for his quick wittiness and great sense of humor. He was always an inspiration to his family and all that knew him.
He was predeceased by his infant son, Louie S. Barnes, Jr. on November 9, 1973; by his parents, Robert and Mary Barnes and his brother, Doug.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of 43 years; his sons, Allen & Erin Barnes, Daniel Barnes, and Nicholas and Tonya Barnes, all of Mt. Vision; his precious grandchildren and loves of his life, Sophia, Elias, Jacob and Ethan; brothers and sisters, Robert and Ann Barnes of Lisle, Martin and Dee Barnes of Garrettsville, Richard Barnes, Judy and Ronnie Sheppard, all of South Carolina, Bonnie and Billy Schrol of Schoharie and Martha Barnes of Bainbridge; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Iver and Lil Lindberg of Cooperstown, Frank and Ruth Lindberg of Connecticut, Esther and John Roote of Morris, Norma Jones of Edmeston, Doug Lindberg, Sue and Ivan Norton, all of Otego, Fred and Bonnie Marble, Richard and Judy Lindberg, David and Penny Lindberg, all of Oneonta, Walt and Debbie Stretch and Donald and Doris Lindberg, all of Worcester; many nieces and nephews and his childhood friend of 50 years, Jimmy Palmer.
Calling hours will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. with the funeral at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.
Interment will be at the Lena Cemetery at a later date.
