Louis V. Roe, 60, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

Born November 12, 1949 to Cora and Louis Roe, he grew up in Charlotteville on his family's farm. On July 22, 1967 he married Dale Geene who survives him.

He worked for General Electric from 1968 until his retirement in October of 2005. Louie was also a very talented machinist, carpenter and logger. He was always very willing and happy to share his knowledge and skills with others. Louie was an avid hunter and was very happy to share in that with his son, grandson and close family and friends. He loved to fish, play cards and travel.

Most of all he loved spending time being "pop-pop" to all his grandchildren who were the joy of his life.

Most recently he enjoyed and was very proud of the farm he was starting and was enjoying teaching his grandchildren about farm life.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Dale L. Roe; his 4 children and their families, daughter, Brenda and Jeffrey Shaun Jump and their children, Breanna and Nathan of Oneonta; son, Derek Roe and his children, Taylor and Derek II and their mother, Josey Roe, of Worcester, his daughter, Dawn and Dan Bentley and their children, Garrett and Skyler, of Westford, his daughter, Amanda Roe and Lonnie Schneider and their children, Kaylea, Kamryn, Austin and Ryan, of Schenevus. He is also survived by his loyal beagle, Shelby. Survivors also include, his brother, Larry Roe; his sisters, Georgianna Roe and Irene Kistler; a special niece and nephew, Cindy Runblad and Larry Roe Jr. and their families; as well as many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Louie wishes were that there be no calling hours.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 30, 2010 at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 155 Main St., Worcester with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, chaplain at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital officiating.

Burial will take place 1 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at the Maryland Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Louie may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
