Obituary

WORCESTER – Louise Goodrich, 95, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013 at the Robinson Terrace in Stamford.

She was born April 14, 1918 in Brooklyn, the daughter of Josephine (Sudentis) and Theodor Nelson. She grew up in the Pleasant Brook area and graduated from Cherry Valley School at 16. Too young to attend college for nursing, she found work in the following years in the Worcester area. After raising her children, Yvonne and Ted in East Worcester, she received her real estate license and worked at Schohanna Trial Realty for several years.

On May 8, 1967, she married Kenneth A. Goodrich. Together they enjoyed traveling, antiquing, playing cards with friends and bowling in several area leagues. She was proud and honored to have received the Gwen Wood Memorial Award from the Women's Thursday's Night league at the Holiday Lanes in 1998. She continued bowling, well into her 80's. She was an excellent seamstress and crocheted beautiful tablecloths, doilies and afghans. She especially enjoyed spending time in her kitchen creating cakes, desserts and delicious meals. For many years she and Ken worked tirelessly in their vegetable and flowers gardens at their home they built together.

A brother, George and her daughter, Louise Yvonne Wickham, predeceased her.

Her loving and dedicated husband, Ken; a son, Theodore Guernsey and his wife, Joanne; granddaughters, Tracy Louise Cates and her fiancé Barry Hogan, Kimberlie Mackey and her husband, Brian, Elizabeth Hogan and grandson, Mikeal Guernsey, survive her.

We would like to thank the staff at Robinson Terrace for their care and compassion given to Louise during her stay in Stamford.
