Obituary

Mt. Vision- Louise W. Hall, 84, passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer at her beloved home known as Adaca Acres.

She was born on March 24, 1930 in New Rochelle, NY, the daughter of John and Louise Tesoriero. She married William (Bill) J. Hall, also of New Rochelle, on August 15, 1962. He passed away on November 8, 1993. Together they ran a small mooring and marine salvage business in New Rochelle Harbor until 1974. In 1965, they purchased their property in Mt. Vision for hunting and winter activities.

Bill and Louise moved to Mt. Vision permanently in 1974. Louise began playing tennis, which became her life's passion. She played at Wilbur Park, the Oneonta Tennis Club, and most recently at SUCO. She made countless lifelong friends through tennis. Louise also had a furniture refinishing and chair caning business. When Bill became ill in 1988 she cared for him until his death.

Louise was an extremely strong, active woman. She was passionate, free spirited, and always true to herself. She maintained her property including mowing, gardening, and snow blowing until the end. Besides tennis, she skied, biked, swam, and worked out at the gym. She was known for her poppy seed cakes. Louise was an active parishioner at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oneonta. She was a loyal, caring friend to so many and she will be greatly missed.

Louise is survived by her daughter, Marie (Lou) Mednick and her husband, Jay of Centennial, Colorado; three grandchildren, Rachel, Alex, and Lauren, who all have wonderful memories of times spent at Adaca Acres, riding in the truck, watching birds and deer, and just spending time with their unique "Nana Louise." Louise is also survived by a sister, Santa LaBounty and a cherished niece, Santa Olson, both of Long Island.
Louise was predeceased by her sister, Joan Gorman of Pennsylvania and is survived by her niece Paula, and nephews Thomas and Richard.

A celebration of Louise's life will be held in late September. Internment will be private. Those who wish may make a contribution to the Laurens Emergency Squad, PO Box 164, Laurens, NY 13796, in memory of Louise.

Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home in Oneonta are assisting the family. Condolences may be made online at www.lhpfuneralhome.com.
