ONEONTA – Lucy Ireland, 101, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 29, 2006. She passed away at A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
She was born October 13, 1904 in Schenevus, the daughter of James Jr. and Ella (Newcomb) Kildee.
She married Harry Zindle, who predeceased her. Then she married Calvin Ireland, who also predeceased her.
She is survived by her children, Joan Howard, Violet and Cecil Hadley, Herb and Barbara Zindle, Dorothy Nobes, Rosella and Bradley Osborn, Pansy Thomas and Earl and Carol Zindle; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, great-great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, Harry Zindle and Peter Ireland and her brothers and sisters, Blanche Gardner, Eva Howe, Daisy Riddell, Earl Kildee, Pearl Hughes and Hazel Meyers; 5 grandsons and a granddaughter.
Recently there was a photograph taken of her family with six generations. She enjoyed flowers and kittens.
Calling hours will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2006 from Noon to the funeral service time at 1 p.m. at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home in Oneonta, with the Rev. Keith A. VanDewerker, pastor at the West End Community Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will follow at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Unadilla.
