Obituary

Cooperstown Junction - Lulu "Doody" M. Hawley, 91, passed away June 19, 2023 at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.

She was born April 25, 1932 in Schenevus, the daughter of Howard and Thelma Sellick.

She married Glenn Hawley on June 25, 1950 in Sidney, NY.

Doody love the Lord and her family. She took much pride in her role as a mother and extended that to many. She was an amazing cook and had several special dishes that were favorites to all. One time when asked, she said that was her way of "loving others from the inside out". She carried that heart of love and service to her beloved animals. Doody truly valued her relationship with her siblings and her in-laws. Doody was an avid outdoors woman that was competitive in nature and a true gem of her time. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycle riding, snowmobiling and driving her dump truck. Though Doody leaves behind many cherished memories with her family that stretch over generations, she very much looked forward to being at home with her Lord.

She survived by six children, Carolyn Duncan, Cynthia (Martin Belmont), James Hawley, Denise Hawley, Darlene Duncan, Lorraine (Michael Bissell Sr.); siblings, Phyllis Tylee and Robert Sellick; grandchildren, Scott Norton, Shannon Duncan, Jessica Duncan, Dan Belmont, Jennifer Aplanalp, Angela Seggese, Jamie Gabriel, Glenn Hawley, David Falcone, Stephanie Lane, David Duncan Jr., Derek Duncan, Naomi Duncan, Christina Gould, Michael Bissell Jr.; 44 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband; her sister, Betty and husband, Ivan Preston; brothers, Donald Sellick and David Sellick; sister-in-law, Anita and husband, Joe Mendez; sons-in-law, Stephen Duncan and David Duncan Sr.; grandson, Johnny Belmont;  as well as her animal companions Scruffy, Buffy, Bitsy, Brandy, Rasal, Squeedunk, Tiger, Beauty and Pretty Kitty.

Private services at the discretion of the family will be held at the Schenevus Cemetery.
