WORCESTER, NY – Mabel I. Stiles, 88, passed away quietly on July 9,2020.
Born January 14, 1932, to Francis Miller and Harvey Johnson of West Millington, NJ, Mabel graduated from Bernards High School, Bernardsville, NJ.
Commencing her career at Hayden Brothers of Warren, NJ, where she met her beloved husband of 59 ½ years, Jim Stiles. Mabel was the proud owner of Fran's Luncheonette in Bernardsville NJ, where she served many a happy customer while raising her family. She could often be seen with a caravan full of children rolling around in the back of her International while commuting back and forth to Worcester NY, her one-day retirement home.
Mabel loved life. "Hi Sweetheart" were usually the first words out of her mouth. She always had a cup of coffee and a kind word. Family and friends came from many miles to gleen a bit of her wisdom. She loved country music, in particular Hank Williams and Merle Haggard. In her retirement years Mabel could be found in her Dodge caravan with her pink John Deere cap on and her husband and dog at her side. She was always ready for a house full of company at any moment for fishing and four wheeling.
Mabel is predeceased by husband Jim and her brother William Johnson.
She is survived by her loving sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Thea, Lee and Cathy and Kim and Mary Ann; her granddaughters, Jessica and Kristine; her brothers Harvey, Jr. and Fred and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services will be held.
