Obituary

WESTFORD – Margaret Lola Green, 91, passed away Friday, November 26, 2010 at her home, with her loving family by her side.

Margaret was born June 25, 1919 in South Butler, the daughter of Thomas Harold and Grace Lola (Bresee) Kennedy Sr.

She grew up in Wolcott and graduated from Leavenworth High School.

One summer while visiting her uncle and aunt, William and Cora Patrick at the Patrick Homestead in Westford, she met the love of her life Shirley Green.

Margaret and Shirley were married August 6, 1939 in Oneonta at the home of her parents.

They purchased the Patrick farm in 1946 and that was home. The farming venture started with six cows, 144 acres and eventually grew with the partnership of their son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Barbara to 750 acres and herd of 320 animals. The majority of the farm land came from Patrick farm (Margaret's family) and Green/Wilsey farm (Shirley's family).

Margaret/Mom/Gram was always the loyal, behind the scene supporter for her husband and entire family. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

She worked for Bresee's in the men's department and later for SUNY Oneonta in the student financial aide office retiring with 20 years of service.

She was of the Methodist faith, and was a member of Order of Eastern Star #138, Schenevus, and the Iroquois Chapter of NSDAR, Worcester.

Margaret is survived by her daughter, Nancy S. (Robert) Milavec; son, Timothy D. Green, his fiancée, Barbara Scofield; grandchildren, Lauren (Gregg) Milavec-Horhota, Jeffrey (Sherri Wayman) Milavec, Kristin (Ronald) Spranger, Kimberly (Robert) Velasco, Kelly (Greg) Tymchyn, Timothy (Jennifer) Green II; great-grandchildren, Melissa Marling, Marion Starbird, Nicole Neilson, Maci and Malina Milavec, Taylor, Erika and Ryan Spranger, Zakeery and Timothy Velasco, Gabrielle, Grace and Gregory Tymchyn, Timothy and Owen Green, Jakob Grover, Joshua Wayman, Garett and Allison Horhota; a great-great-grandchildren, Sebastian Horhota and Emma Tymchyn.

Also surviving is David (Cathy) Craig, Ellen (Nelson) Giron, Thomas (Melanie) Craig, Karen (Patrick) Kinley, Brielle and Jaden Giron, Hannah and Dylan Craig, London and Hunter Kinley and her 2 special spoiled cats, Molly and Boy Holly.

She is predeceased by her husband, Shirley; her parents; brother, Thomas H. Kennedy Jr.; nephew, Lloyd T. Kennedy; daughter-in-law, Barbara Green; two grandchildren, Katherine and Kevin Green.

The family wished to thank Dr. Bernadette Ryan and her colleagues of Bassett Hospital, The Otsego Manor, the staff on Winding Brook, Butternut Creek Rehab and Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., the Heller Funeral Home, Kathy and John Pietrobono and Keith VanDewerker.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, November 28, 2010 6 to 8 p.m. with an Eastern Star Service at 6 p.m. at the Heller Funeral Home, Schenevus.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 29, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, chaplain at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta, officiating.

Burial will follow at the Elk Creek Cemetery.
