SCHENEVUS – Margaret "Marge" M. Schneider, 87, passed away on June 8, 2026, at Chestnut Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oneonta.
She was born on October 17, 1938, in Queens, New York, the daughter of Vincent and Edyth Mahnken.
She graduated from Milford Central School.Marge earned her nursing degree from Mohawk Valley Community College and devoted her career to caring for others.
She worked as a nurse at Little Falls Hospital before serving with the Otsego County Health Department, from which she retired after many years of dedicated service. Nursing was more than a profession to Marge—it was a calling, and she touched the lives of many through her compassion and commitment to helping others.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Schneider of Schenevus; her children, Jacqueline and Francis Volpe of Columbia, TN, John and Sara Bowman of Farmington, MI, Damon Schneider of Cooperstown, Heather Schneider of Schenevus, Mike and Erika Bowman of Niskayuna, and Devlon Schneider of Schenevus; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sisters, Kathleen Liddle of Milford Center and Donna Work of Cobleskill; several nieces and nephews; and other extended family members.
She was predeceased by her son, Matthew Bowman; and her brothers, William and Robert Mahnken.
The funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 19, 2026 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 201 Main St., Worcester, NY, with the Rev. Joseph Arockiasamy as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, with the members of the Nurses Honor Guard offering a final tribute in recognition of Marge’s years of dedicated service to the nursing profession.
