Oneonta – Margo D. Heck, 88, comfortably passed away on June 23, 2026, at Chestnut Park Nursing Home in Oneonta.

Born on April 21, 1938, in Summit, she was the daughter of Frank and Susie (Gifford) Wayman.

On November 10, 1958, she married Wayne R. Heck in Oneonta.

Margo dedicated her early years to raising her children as a stay-at-home mother. She later enjoyed a successful career as an Avon sales representative and eventually retired at age 73 as a bus driver for Bernie Bus. 

An active member of the Salvation Army, Margo attended church and Bible study, volunteered at the food bank, and served at the coffee stop during holiday weekends. In her free time, she enjoyed puzzles, country music, and participating in CB radio activities with her husband.

She is survived by her children, Deborah Janitz and Wayne R. Heck, II.; grandchildren, Wayne R. Heck, III, Aaron Heck, Joseph (Lacey) Janitz, Melissa Anderson, and Joshua Anderson; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Margo was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Wayne (March 3, 2016); her daughter, Judy Anderson; grandsons, Michael Janitz and Nathan Anderson; and five siblings.

A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the Salvation Army, 25 River St., Oneonta.
