West Oneonta - Marian A. Harrington, 83, passed away Friday, August 14, 2009 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.


She was born April 16, 1926 in Oneonta, the daughter of Howard and Marian Dunbar.


Marian married John A. Harrington on May 12, 1944 in White Plains, NY.


She was a lifelong area resident and one of the founding members of the West Oneonta Fire Dept. Woman's Auxiliary.


Marian had a great love for her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, writing, traveling and flying all over the United States. Marian had two of her articles published in national magazines.


She is survived by her husband John Harrington of West Oneonta; a daughter, Debbie Shannon and her husband Jim of Bloomfield, NY; a son, John Harrington and his wife Harriett of Chattanooga, TN; 5 grandchildren, John, Marc, Patrick, Michael, Jessica and Benjamin; 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.


Marian was predeceased by her parents and her brother Kenneth.


A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St. in Oneonta with the Rev. Keith Vandewerker, retired, officiating.


Burial will follow at the Cook Cemetery in West Oneonta.


There will be no calling hours.
