MARYLAND – Marie Ernestine Tubbs, 83, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Bassett Healthcare Hospital in Cooperstown.

She was born January 28, 1926 in Winooski, VT, the daughter of Leon and Rosa (Robert) Lambert.

She is survived by her husband, Francis Tubbs, whom she married on August 19, 1990; her sons, John Lambert and wife, Marie of North Carolina, Eugene Kelsey of North Carolina, Deforest Wellman and wife, Marylou of Unadilla, James Wellman of Maryland, Owen Wellman and wife, Ann Marie of Otego, George Wellman and wife, Carol of North Carolina, Richard Wellman and wife, April of North Carolina, Neal Wellman of Richfield Springs; her daughters, Ramona Adolfsen of Oneonta, Sandra Hoag and husband, Tom of North Carolina, Delma Wellman of Oneonta, Lucila Pendelton of Cooperstown, and Alice Balogh and companion, Perry Bull of Milford; step-daughters, Christine Alexander of Virginia and Dawn Williams and husband, Randy of Milford; many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; a brother, Frederick; sisters, Lorraine, Lillian, Dorothy, Rosanna, Marie and Priscilla, as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Donovan of California and a brother, Leon and a sister, Theresa.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta, from 2 to 4 p.m., with the funeral service at 4 p.m., with the Reverend Keith VanDewerker, retired, officiating.
