Obituary

Marietta J. (Ferris) Bridger, 66, formerly of Worcester and Fly Creek, passed away December 30, 2015 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse.

She was born November 6, 1949 in Poughkeepsie, the daughter of Emerson and Mary (Thompson) Ferris.

Marietta grew up in Worcester. She graduated from Worcester Central School and Nursing School. She was a LPN at Bassett Medical Center and the former Meadows Nursing Home (Otsego Manor), retiring in 2012.

She married David Bridger Sr. in January of 1979.

In her youth, Marietta enjoyed horses and horse back riding. She was a devoted mother, who loved driving her daughter around Central New York for various sporting events.

She was predeceased by her husband, David on August 10, 2013; her parents, and her brother, Alonzo "Lon" Ferris.

She is survived by her daughter, Emera Bridger Wilson and husband, Ian of Syracuse and their son, Alexander Wilson; stepsons, David Bridger Jr. of Cobleskill, and Steven Bridger of Oneonta; a step grandson, Kyle Bridger; two brothers, Thomas Ferris and wife, Jeanne of Byron, MN, and Emerson Ferris of San Diego, CA; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends.

There will be no calling hours.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Elizabeth Tesi, pastor of St. John's Norwood Parish in the state of Maryland, will be officiating.

Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester.
