Obituary

Oneonta – Marilyn W. Gerowe, 67, passed away at home with her family and friends at her side on August 1, 2019.

She was born January 1, 1952 in Oneonta, the daughter of John H. Wells Sr. and Adelaide Cora (Escher) Wells.

Marilyn graduated from Oneonta High School, Class of 1970 and also SUNY Morrisville, earning an Associate's degree in Nursing.

She married David H. Gerowe on August 25, 1973 at the First United Methodist Church in Oneonta.

Marilyn worked at Bassett Medical Center as an ICU Nurse, prior to her marriage. She and her family lived in Florida for several years, before returning back to Oneonta.  Marilyn was working at A.O. Fox Nursing Home until her illness.

She was an avid Yankees fan, enjoyed skiing, playing tennis, and singing. Her family was her everything.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, David Gerowe of Oneonta; her daughters, Jennifer (Greg) Schaub of Cherry Valley and Michelle (David) Maestas of Lacey, WA; grandchildren, Abigail and Bryan Schaub and David and Savannah Maestas; her brothers, David S. (Barbara) Brandt of Oneonta, John H. Wells, Jr of Anaheim, CA, William D. Wells of Anaheim, CA, Robert J. Wells of Oneonta, James Richard Wells of New York City; sister-in-law, Jane Brandt of Caroga Lake; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, and a brother, Geoffrey Escher Brandt.

Visitation will 4 to 6 p.m. with a celebration of life service at 6 p.m. Monday, August 5, 2019 at the Lewis Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta. The Rev. Judith Thistle will be officiating.
