GREENE – Marilyn R. Slawson, 52, lost her battle with cancer on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
She was born July 19, 1956 in Oneonta, the daughter of Leonard and Lurlene Betty (Llewellyn) Murphy.
Marilyn married Stephen Slawson on July 30, 1988 in Schenevus. He predeceased her on July 12, 1994.
She was employed at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, as a LPN for 18 ½ years. She then went on to receive her Registered Nurses Degree and was currently working at Binghamton General Hospital. Marilyn was devoted to patient care.
She is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Bissell of Oneonta, and Rebecca and Daniel Whiteman of Maryland; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Quinten, Dayne, Shawna and Abagail; sisters, Jean Duket, Sharon Telezrow and Deborah McConnell; brothers, Bill, Dennis, Kenneth and Timothy Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Brian, Jimmy and Pat; her father in 1979 and her mother in 2009.
Calling hours will be Sunday, July 5, 2009 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta.
The funeral service will be Monday, July 6th at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Teressa Sivers, pastor at the First United Methodist Church, Oneonta, officiating.
Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Emmons.
