Obituary

Marion W. Van Etten, 96, passed away December 4, 2019 at  A.O. Fox Hospital, Oneonta.

She was born May 19, 1923 in Westford, the daughter of H. Thomas and Georgia (Roseboom) Williams. Marion graduated from Andrew S. Draper and the Albany Business School.

She married Clarence R. Van Etten on June 24, 1942 at the Schenevus United Methodist Church. Marion was secretary to Circuit Court Judge Campbell during Clancy's military service with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in France and Germany during WWII.  Upon Clancy's discharge, they moved to Rome, NY where she worked at Revere Copper and Brass Corp.  as an executive secretary. Upon her and Clancy's retirement in 1970, they moved to 'Clancy's Fancy Farm' in Westford. Marion then worked part time for Jay Hulbert Insurance Co. in Schenevus as she wasn't quite ready for complete retirement.

Marion was a long-time member of the Westford United Methodist Church where she was the organist for many years, and until recently, the substitute organist. She enjoyed being outdoors with her grandchildren, baking pies and cookies, and hosting many family gatherings. Her family, she called them 'the tribe,' was most important to her throughout her long life.

Marion is survived by her children, June Ann and David Bedell of Palm Bay, FL and Lt. Col. USAF Ret. Thomas R and Lee Van Etten of Greensboro, GA; eight grandchildren, Camey (Roy) Sears, Scott Bedell, Andrea (Brad) Sweet, Kelly (Thomas) Holmes, Michael (Christi) Van Etten, Timothy Van Etten, Jennifer Amering and Eric Van Etten; five great-grandchildren; sister, Lois Brunschmid of New Berlin, NY,  sisters-in-law Patricia (Van Etten) Hunziker of Delmar, NY, June Van Etten of Dallas, PA, and Cynthia Van Etten of Hamburg, NY; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence; her siblings, George 'Bud' Williams, June Ritton, Thomas Williams and Benjamin Williams.

Calling hours will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester, NY.

The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Westford United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Judith Thistle officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Westford United Methodist Church.

Spring Internment will take place at the Westford Cemetery at a date and time to be determined.
