Obituary

Oneonta - Marjorie R. Carson, 88, passed away peacefully at home on October 11, 2023.

She was born April 5, 1935 in Syracuse, the daughter of Pierce A. and Ruth Leslie (DeLong) Gale.

She graduated from Syracuse University in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts.

She married Robert B. Carson in Syracuse in 1957.  They were married for 58 years when he passed away in 2015.

Marjorie and Robert moved to the Oneonta area in 1966. Marjorie was an artist and avid naturalist. She loved spending time with her family, her bridge group of 50 plus years and gatherings with friends and family in the Catskills. She was a member of the Oneonta Historical Society, the Girl Scouts and the DAR.

Marjorie worked at the YMCA in Oneonta; the Cerebral Palsy Camps of Onondaga; and the ARC of Otsego County.

She is survived by her children, James (Christa) Carson of Baldwinsville and Sarah (Terry) Whiffen of Clifton Springs; grandchildren Kevin (Erin) Carson, Ryan Carson (Leah Kramer), Catherine Whiffen, and Grace Whiffen; sister, Jane Verbeck of Fayetteville and sister-in-law, Jean Carson of Dallas, PA and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brothers-in-laws, General K. Channing Verbeck and Larry Carson.

The family will celebrate Marjorie's life at a later date.
