Milford Center – Marjorie R. Chase, 80, passed away with her family by her side on January 2, 2022 at Cooperstown Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born October 20, 1941 in Stamford, the daughter of Ivan J. and Lavilla M. (Wright) Reed.
Marge was raised in Stamford and graduated from Stamford Central School.
She married Kendall F. Chase, Jr. on October 27, 1963 in Stamford. He predeceased her on August 6, 2011.
Marge was a legal secretary for 40 years at William Atchinson Jr. Law Firm in Oneonta. She was a member of the Milford Center Community Bible Church, was a Trustee for the Milford Center Cemetery, was the Milford Town Clerk for several years, belonged to the Otsego County and Susquehanna Senior Citizens groups and was on a bowling league for many years. She proudly volunteered for the Cooperstown Food Pantry.
Marge's greatest pride and joy were her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved the family gatherings at holiday's and birthday celebrations. She was an avid sports fan of the Milford Wild Cats, and enjoyed watching her grandchildren in their many activities. After retirement, she enjoyed the cross-country trip in the motor home with her husband. She and her husband took great pride in their home, as well as the flower and vegetable gardens.
She is survived by her children Michael and wife, Kimberly Chase of Milford Center and Amy and husband, Roger Boulay of Oneonta; grandchildren, Joseph, Hannah, and Andrew Lawton, Kaley Chase and Daniel Harrington, and Serena and husband, Ryan Morlock; great-grandchildren, Leah, Hallie and Gavin Ruling; sisters-in-law, Betty Reed of Stamford and Barbara Chase of South Carolina; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces. great-nephews and several dear friends.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Donald Reed and Doris Reed Barber.
Calling hours will be from 1 p.m. to the funeral at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Milford Center Community Bible Church, 2582 NY 28, Oneonta, with the Rev. Stephen Fournier officiating.
The interment at the Milford Center Cemetery will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2022.
