WORCESTER – Marjorie Marie Pethick Cain, 90, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, August 5, 2016 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
She was born April 13, 1926 in Honesdale, PA, the daughter of William Douglas and Marie W. (Herzog) Pethick.
Marjorie married Aloysius A. Cain on April 16, 1949 in New Jersey.
She graduated from Columbia Presbyterian Nursing School. She worked as a nurse, a purchasing agent, and many years in the healthcare field retiring as an administrator at Woodside Hall in Cooperstown.
Marjorie was an avid and voracious reader, whose true passion was becoming an English teacher. She enjoyed doing crafts, beadwork and crocheting.
Marjorie was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Otsego, Hartwick, Arbutus Chapter 201 at Cooperstown.
She loved visiting with friends and family, and spoiling her cat Emma.
Marjorie will be deeply missed by her large and loving family. She is survived by her daughters, Carol Lynn Cain, Joan Potter, and Mary Lou (Christopher) Clark, all of Worcester; sister, Anna Mae Gallik of Rockaway, NJ; grandchildren, Richard (Beth) Cain, Melissa (Josh) Taylor, Steven (Lylette) Potter, Peter (Betsey) Clark, Jillian Clark, Shannon (Klaus) Manchester, George Negron and Victor Negron and his family; great-grandchildren, Anna and Nathan Cain, Chandler Wayman, Isaiah, Jacob, Delilah Taylor, Liam Potter, Evan Clark, Gabrielle, Allyson, Johnathan Manchester and Emma Clark; a nephew, Tom Gallik.
She was predeceased by her husband, Aloysius; daughter, Susan Lee and son-in-law, Wayne Potter.
Per Marjorie's wishes, there will be no calling hours. The service will be at the convenience of the family at the Glenn Dyberry Cemetery in Honesdale, PA.
In honor of Marjorie's memory the family requests donations be made to the Worcester Emergency Squad, PO Box 191, Worcester, NY 12197.
