Marjorie Sybil Miller Van Deusen, 82, of Oneonta, New York, died peacefully at her home with her family by her side on July 29, 2020.
Born to Raymond and Marguerite (Brandow) Miller, she graduated from Oneonta High School and SUNY Oneonta and later received her New York State Adjuster's License.
In 1959, she married James F. Van Deusen at St. Mary's Church in Oneonta. Together for 46 years, they raised their three sons and worked side-by-side running Southern New York Claim Services. James and Marjorie spent summers at their camp on the Susquehanna River and traveled the world.
During her lifetime she served on the boards of Hospice, Family Services Association, Catholic Charities and the Oneonta Federated Garden Club. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, served on its Pastoral Council and was a greeter.
In her later years she hosted and enjoyed the friendships and fun of the Monday Maj Jongg Players.
Most important in her life was her beloved husband and friend, Jim and their three wonderful sons, James (Jamie) C. Van Deusen, Schenevus, Derek R. Van Deusen and fiancé Diana Joyce and stepsons Matthew and Kyle, Oneonta, and Dennis L. Van Deusen and special daughter-in-law Anne, Oneonta, her super grandchildren Alexander Van Deusen and Karlyn Van Deusen Mellor, husband David and her great grandchildren Caden and Liam.
She is survived by her sister Meryl Harrison, Oneonta and cousin Susan Brandow, Endicott, nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 8 beginning at 10:00 am at Mount Cavalry Cemetery in Oneonta.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Marjorie can be sent to Helios Care in Oneonta, New York.
