Obituary

COOPERSTOWN – WEST DAVENPORT – Martha Moore Herrling of West Davenport died March 25, 2016 at Focus Rehabilitation and Nursing at Otsego in Cooperstown, NY.

She was born November 8, 1921 in Lafayette, Indiana, the only child of William and Aileen Moore.

Her early years were spent in Campbell, Ohio, a suburb of Youngstown. After receiving her BA Degree in Home Economics Education at Muskingum College, New Concord, Ohio, she spent two years teaching at Rayen High School and Girl's Vocational High
School in Youngstown. She was a member of The American Association of University
Women. During war she worked in Camp Service, American Red Cross, Fort Meade, Maryland.

She is predeceased by her husband Paul, who was a PFC with the Combat Army Engineers, 604th Division after 42 years of marriage. Residing in New York City,
she taught for 15 years at PS # 10 Junior High School, Long Island City and received
a Master's Degree in Home Economics Education in 1964 from Columbia University
Teacher's College, also attending Queens College, Flushing, NY.

Martha was a member of Omicron Nu, a Home Economics honorary society, and Beta Sigma Phi, a business sorority. She and her husband moved to West Davenport in 1977 where she became a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Post 1206 Oneonta, and was
also a member of the NY State Federation of Teachers. No children were the result of the marriage.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. the memorial service at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta. Her ashes will be buried with her husband in the Veterans National Cemetery, Bath, NY.
