ONEONTA – Marvin L. Gorsch Jr., 82, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2008 at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born October 16, 1926 in Syracuse, the son of Marvin L. and Edith (Wright) Gorsch.
Marvin was a United States Army Veteran.
He married Carolyn Pogue on September 3, 1949 in Oneonta. She predeceased him on March 13, 1998.
Marvin was employed at the Queens Farms Dairy Inc. in Deposit as a truck driver for many years, his last few years of work he was a company dispatcher.
He was well known for his very large collection of records and toy trucks. Marvin loved cars, especially Cadillac's.
He is survived by his three children, Terry Gorsch of Oneonta, Daniel and Cheryl Gorsch of Goodyear Lake, and Donna Gorsch and Scott Beer of Raleigh, NC; grandchildren, Josh, Brian, Melanie, Aaron, Sarah and Jeffrey.
He was predeceased by a granddaughter, April Joy Gorsch in 2006.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, November 20, 2008 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, chaplain at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, officiating. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will follow at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery
