Mary H. Bobnick



WORCESTER – Mary H. Bobnick, 93, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on Friday, June 12, 2009.



She was born July 13, 1915 in Davis, WV, the daughter of James and Mary (Anzelc) Milavec.



She married Joseph Bobnick on August 19, 1933 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Worcester.



Mary was a member of the Worcester Grange, and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Worcester, where she was a member of the Holy Rosary Society and Bible Study Group. She served as Secretary of the SNPJ Lodge (Slovenian National Benefit Society) for several years. She also was employed at Worcester Central School as part of the cafeteria staff for nine years.



Mary devoted her life to helping her husband on the family farm and raising their children. She will be remembered for her baking, her jam preserves, (which she shared joyously with her family and friends), and always keeping the welcome mat out to friends and neighbors.

She is survived by her children, Larry and Toni Bobnick of Worcester, Joan Bobnick of Wilmington, DE; Brenda and Jim Yergey of Owego; daughter-in-law, RoseMarie Bobnick of Dryden; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.



She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Joe Bobnick on January 8, 2000; her son, Jim Bobnick on February 18, 2002 and was the last of 11 brothers and sisters to pass away.



Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel in Worcester. A Vigil Service and Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Worcester, with the Rev. Ronald Green, MM, as celebrant.



Interment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
