Obituary

MARYLAND - Mary Ellen Dulkis (Brown), affectionately known as Grannie, passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2018 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.

She was born October 27, 1932 in the United Methodist Parsonage in Lehman, PA, to the late Rev Lynn H. and Freda Brown.

She graduated from Andrew S. Draper, Schenevus in 1950 and attended Wyoming Seminary in Kingston, PA.

She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Dulkis and her brothers, Robert and Lynn Brown.

She worked for Sears, NYS Unemployment and Wilber National Bank for over 30 years. She was a long-time member of the Schenevus United Methodist Church, served on the Schenevus School board, the Grievance board, and the Schenevus/Maryland Fire District Board.  She was also an avid bowler.

Mary married Albert in 1953 and later moved to their family dairy farm where they raised their three children. Mary continued to do "barn chores" into her 70's.  Mary was a considerate and caring person who always saw the good in everyone.  Her family would often go to her for advice as they respected her ideas and opinions.

She is survived by her children, Nancy Dulkis, Mark (Barbara) Dulkis, and Sharon (Chuck) Sisson; grandchildren, Adam Dulkis, Nicole (Josh) Cristiano, Evan (Jessica) Dulkis, Mark Andrew Dulkis, Alexis and Ashley Sisson. She is also survived by her brother, William Brown, sister-in-law, Florence Dulkis and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at the Schenevus United Methodist Church on May 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., with the Rev. Kathy Brumbaugh, officiating.  The interment will follow at the Schenevus Cemetery.

Immediately following Mary's interment, there will also be a committal service at the Schenevus Cemetery for her brother, William "Bill" Brown, who passed away March 2, 2018.
