COHOES – Mary Elizabeth Kelso Caiazza passed away Thursday, June 5, 2008 of Parkinson's disease at the Eddy Ford Nursing Home in Cohoes.
She was born February 13, 1917 in Worcester, and was the daughter of the late John Edward and Annabel (Fisher) Kelso.
She was a life long resident of Otsego county living in Worcester and Oneonta. Lib graduated from Worcester Central School and received a Bachelor of Science in History from Albany State.
Lib was the wife of the late Carmen Caiazza. They lived in Oneonta for many years before returning to Worcester when Carmen retired from teaching music.
In Oneonta she was a member of the Elm Park Methodist Church and involved in many civic groups. When returning to Worcester she was active in the Woman's Club, The Weiting, the American Legion Auxiliary, the United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Worcester Historical Society and played bridge for many years with a special group of friends.
She is the mother of Cynthia (David) Kunz, Michael (Barbara), and Roger (Susan); grandmother of Elyse Kunz, Seth (Nancy) Kunz, Alison (Michael) Flippin, Jennine Caiazza, Joshua Caiazza, Timothy (Lili) Caiazza, Jesse Caiazza; great-grandmother of John and Matthew Kunz, and Nolan Flippin; and a cousin, Louis Henderson She is also survived by several nieces and nephews on the Caiazza and Kelso sides of the family, including her brother James' wife Dorothy Kelso.
Lib was predeceased by her brother, James Gerald Kelso; cousins Milton (Marjorie) Kelso, Kenneth (Jean) Kelso, Dorothy Kelso Henderson, Howard (Frances) Henderson, Clarence Fisher, George Fisher, Margaret Fisher, and Mary Louise Fisher.
The Caiazza family would like to thank the friends and neighbors who remembered her during her last years. Each visit, note and card were strings creating a rope back to Worcester during her days at the Hampshire House in Oneonta and the Eddy Ford Nursing Home in Cohoes.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service at 11 a.m., Monday, June 16, 2008 at the United Methodist Church in Worcester, with the Rev. Jane Pykus officiating. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the service.
Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester.
