Mary E. Milavec
WORCESTER - Mary E. Milavec, 94, of Worcester passed away Thursday, June 15, 2006 at the A.O. Fox Memorial Nursing Home in Oneonta.
She was born on July 8, 1911 in a mud hut built into the side of a mountain in Quinn, South Dakota, the daughter of Mathew and Katherina (Bender) Muehl.
Mary married Frank J. Milavec on June 25, 1931 at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Worcester. He predeceased her on December 18, 1992.
An area resident for most of her life she and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm on Tuscan Road from 1947 to 1961. Mary loved people and especially enjoyed all the large family gatherings and celebrations, playing cards and making cookies.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, St. Joseph's Altar Rosary Society and the Worcester Grange #1274.
Mary is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine M. and George Rooney and Mildred R. and Robert Davis, both of Worcester, and Patricia A. and Charles Golding of Selkirk; 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Robert F. and Nancy S. Milavec of Worcester and William J. and Jane M. Milavec of California and New York; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Tony, George and Joe Muehl; a sister, Tillie Hess and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by brothers, Matt, John, Richard and Jake Muehl; a sister, Ann Kilmer, and a great grandson, Nicholas Mirie.
The family would like to thank the A.O. Fox Memorial Nursing Home staff for the excellent care that Mary was given.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday June 19, 2006 at the St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Main St., Worcester with the Rev. Edward Golding, as celebrant.
Burial will follow at the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Worcester.
Calling hours will be Sunday, June 18, 2006 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 155 Main St., Worcester. A vigil service will be held at 5:30 p.m.
