FARMINGTON - Matthew Scot Maine, 46, passed away June 18, 2023 at Strong Memorial in Rochester, NY.

Matthew was born in Oneonta, NY on August 18, 1976.  He was the only son of Joanne and John Maine and is survived by his father, John (Marie Lusins); his sister, Patti Canner (Jamey Novick) and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Matt attended Center Street Elementary School and graduated from Oneonta High School in 1994 where he met life long friends and cultivated his love for music, participating in band and traveling abroad to play on a concert tour through Europe.

Matt attended SUNY Oneonta and RIT and studied computer science.  After college, he worked for PactivEvergreen (formerly Reynolds) in their IT department, recently celebrating his twentieth work anniversary.  He lived in various parts of the country and saw the world during his work career, settling in Farmington, NY in 2009 and working at Pactiv Evergreen up until he passed.

He loved music and cooking and had eclectic tastes in both, from Phish to meat pie, from Queen to King crab legs, and from Chicago to Oneonta pizza.  And, Matt loved the NY Jets and had an amazing sense of humor.

Matt had special relationships with his predeceased mother Joanne and grandparents Lionel (Lee) Guenette and Leonide (Lennie) Guenette and he didn't fear a reunion with them when he left this world.  He also had close relationships with his many, many friends and co-workers whose lives he touched and whose lives touched his, each in their own unique way.

Visitation calling hours will be held 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM followed by a brief service at 2:00 PM on Sunday, July 30, 2023 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz Street in Oneonta, NY. After the funeral home service, there will be a celebration of life at the Oneonta Country Club, located at 9 Country Club Drive, Oneonta, NY.
