Maryland – Meta M. Currie, 83, passed away January 14, 2023 at her home.

She was born June 4, 1939 in Jamaica, NY, the daughter of John and Anna (Boeing) Meinking.

Meta graduated from Oneonta High School, Class of 1957 and SUNY Morrisville receiving a LPN degree.  She worked at A.O. Fox Hospital; she was a cashier at Bresee's Health Bar and sold Avon.  She retired at the age of 81 as a bank teller at Community Bank NA, Oneonta.

Meta collected Hummel's and Rudolph the Reindeer.  She enjoyed the holiday season and working at the Christmas Bazaar with Sandy.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Currie, whom she married on October 23, 1965 at the First United Methodist Church, Oneonta; her sons, Steven Currie (Lori Paparteys) and Jeffrey Currie; a brothers, Herb (Fran) Meinking; a sister-in-law, Sandy Currie and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and a brother-in-law, Donald Currie.

Calling hours will be 12:30 p.m. to the funeral at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Marti Swords-Horrell, officiating.

Interment will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023 at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Worcester.
