ONEONTA – Michael J. Janitz, 30, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, April 27, 2013 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born May 29, 1982 in Oneonta, the son of Michael and Deborah (Heck) Janitz.

Michael attended Franklin Central School and Oneonta High School. He was currently taking courses online at Ashford University, his goal was to be a drug and alcohol counselor. He was the owner of Dirty Deeds Landscaping.

Michael loved all kinds of music and all kinds of people. He was easy going and very personable. He was interested in computers and loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his parents, Mike and Debbie Janitz of Oneonta; brothers, Joseph and Lacey Janitz of Oneonta, Joshua Anderson of Oneonta, Jason Crane; a sister, Patricia Crane of Georgia; nieces and nephews, Evan and Aubrey Janitz and Ryan Mangrow; grandparents, Wayne Sr. and Margo Heck of Oneonta; aunts and uncles, John and Suzinna Janitz of New Lisbon and family, Pat and Sherry Janitz of Oakridge, NJ and family, Mary Rose Purdy of Otego and family, Teresann Campbell of Oneonta and family, Stephen and Rebecca Janitz of Cooperstown and family, Judy of New Jersey and family and Bobbi of New Jersey and family, Wayne Heck Jr. of Mt. Vision and family; several other cousins from New Jersey; close family friends, Frank and Emily Amuticco and family; and many other loving friends.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Paul Sr. and Mary Janitz; aunts and uncles, Paul Janitz Jr., Jennie and Al Fleshman, and Judy Anderson.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 with the funeral service at 4 p.m., at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta, with the Rev. Bert More, pastor of the Community Church in South Kortright, officiating. A reception will follow at the Veteran's Club, Chestnut St., Oneonta.
