Oneonta

Michael T. Roy, 41, passed away Friday, September 6, 2013 after a valiant fight with colon cancer at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

He was born on November 26, 1971 in Oneonta, the son of Thomas and Marian (LaBarge) Roy.

Michael married Melissa Frank on June 25, 1994 in Cobleskill.

He worked for the last 10 years as general manager at the Courtyard Marriott, Red Carpet Inn on the Lake and the Holiday Inn Express.

Michael was an avid J-E-T-S fan and lifelong area resident.

He graduated from Worcester Central School in 1989, SUNY Cobleskill in 1991 and Johnson and Wales in Providence, Rhode Island in 1993 where he received a degree in Hospitality Management.

Michael was a member of Delta Sigma Phi, Section 8 Online Gaming Community, Cobleskill Elks Lodge 2040 and Boy Scout and past staff member at the Henderson Scout Camp.

Michael is survived by his wife, Melissa of Oneonta; his 3 daughters which were his joys of his life, Casey, Hunter and Bailey; his parents, Thomas and Marian Roy of Worcester; his brother, Gregory Roy of Oneonta; his grandfather, Gordon LaBarge of Fulton; his father-in-law, Richard Frank of Cobleskill; his sister-in-law, Diana (Joe) Hamm of Cohoes; his best friend, Todd Barclay of Boston; his work family especially his bosses Erfan Khan and Bilial Ahmad, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Francis and Ardee Roy; his maternal grandmother, Betty LaBarge and his mother-in-law, Bonnie Frank.

A Celebration of Michael's Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at the 1st United Methodist Church in Oneonta with the Rev. Teressa Sivers, officiating.

Calling hours will be held Monday, September 9, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz Street in Oneonta.
