Oneonta – Michael L. Vargas, 37, passed away July 2, 2021 from injuries sustained in an accident on Route 205 in the Town of Laurens.

He was born May 29, 1984 in Poughkeepsie, the son of Louis and Maria (Frias) Vargas.

Michael attended both Fox Lane School in Mt. Kisco and Edmeston Central School.

He was currently employed at Mirabito/Subway on Southside Oneonta and the Allstar Village.  He also at one time worked at Home Depot.

Michael was always on the run. He loved working out at the gym.  He enjoyed the finer things in life, including cooking and a good wine.  He loved spending time with his nephew, Kyler who he lived with, as well as his family and friends.  He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his mother, Maria Vargas; his twin brother, Joe Vargas (Trista); his brother, Eddie Vargas; nieces and nephews, Kyler Vargas, Ryan and Kendra Lindsay, Donta and Lexie Sherwood; his parents, John and Christina Gambino; his sister, Heather (Nick) Baldassari; nieces, Giuliana and Vivian Baldassari; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was predeceased by his father, Louis Vargas.
