She was born in East Worcester, NY on January 30, 1921, the daughter of Frank Naples and Theresa (Stellato) Naples. She married Bernard F. Cerra on October 13, 1940 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Worcester and resided in the community up until her husband Ben's passing in 2010.
Minnie was a graduate of Albany Business College. Upon graduation, Minnie worked for the Worcester Bank and quickly became an integral part of her community while raising four children.
She was a talented musician, serving her church for over 50 years as their organist. In her community, she performed piano recitals, community concerts and years of musical support for local high school plays.
Minnie also knew how to have fun with her musical talents. A consummate performer, Minnie was unabashed when impromptu piano opportunities presented itself. On one such occasion while dining in Florida, Minnie sat in with the local entertainer to the surprise and delight of the visiting patrons. Her musicality was a gift to all especially around the holidays.
As a community leader, Minnie possessed an undeniable presence. Her infectious positivity, joyful laughter and can-do spirit welcomed others toward participating in civic minded duty. Minnie's individual service led her to become President of three women's organizations, the Worcester Women's Club, the Worcester Fortnightly Club and St. Joseph's Alter Rosary Society.
Most memorable by friends and family alike was Minnie's warm hospitality. Always a gracious host, Minnie made you feel special whatever the occasion or just a quick visit to have a cup of coffee at her kitchen table. All were welcomed in her home.
Minnie enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, skiing, tennis and was an avid gardener. Her flower gardens were an artist's delight.
Minnie is predeceased by her husband Bernard F. Cerra and brothers, Peter Naples and Albert Naples.
Minnie is survived by her four children, Patrick (Burnie) Cerra (Egg Harbor, WI), Frank (Kathie) Cerra (Edina, MN), Theresa Van De Carr (Croton on Hudson, NY), Deborah (Peter) Sheftic (Baldwinsville, NY). She is survived by 10 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren, and her sister, Mary Cerra.
