ONEONTA - Miriam E. Nickerson, 91, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.



She was born February 8, 1921 in Neshoba County, MS, the daughter of Howell and Mary (McCraw) Wedgeworth



She married Clement Nickerson in Meridian, MS on July 4, 1944. He predeceased her in 1980.



Mrs. Nickerson was a Nurse's Aide at Cattaraugus Nursing Home in Olean, NY



She moved to Oneonta in 1981 and was member of River Street Baptist Church, Oneonta. She was known for her beautiful gardens. She loved her family, gardens & the bible



She is survived by her children, Don and Bernie Nickerson of Maryland, Jenny Skiver and Pat Milne of Portville, and John Nickerson of Oneonta; grandchildren, Mark and Sara Nickerson of Warren, PA, Will and Krystal Nickerson of Dover, NH and Samantha Emerson of Hartwick; great-grandchildren, Philip Nickerson, Cayden Jones and Abigail Boyles; sister-in-law, Mary Wedgeworth, nephews, Gerald Early, Randy, Billy and Clarence Butler, Lyn, Del and Vic Wedgeworth, Jimmy Phillips; nieces, Jane Talbert, Joann Phillips and Onnie Mae Devers, all of Mississippi.



Calling Hours will be held Friday, March 23, 2012 from 10 a.m. to Noon at River Street Baptist Church, Oneonta. The funeral service will be at Noon, with the Rev. Mel Farmer, officiating. A reception will follow.



Interment will be at West Genesee Cemetery, Obi, NY, on Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 2 p.m.
