Obituary

MILFORD - Nancy L. Launt, 86, peacefully passed away Monday, September 14, 2009 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown with her family by her side.

She was born December 4, 1922 in Oneonta, the daughter of J Barton and Myrtle (Scatchard) Lane.

Nancy married Alex Philip "Bud" Launt on October 17, 1943 in her family's Oneonta home. She and Bud moved to the Sidney/Unadilla area in 1947 where they raised their family. They lived there until retirement, then moved to Arnold Lake.

Throughout her work career, she painted photographs at Warnken Studio in Oneonta, was employed by the Mica Plant during WW II, and was assistant cook at the Sidney Central School for many years.

Nancy was a Girl Scout leader for four years. She enjoyed her time with the "Crafty Ladies", and she loved to paint, knit, do needlework, puzzles, and play cards. Every year of her life, Nancy returned to her happiest place, Arnold Lake. Her family was paramount to her, and she was most content when surrounded by family and friends, enjoying the spirit of the Lake and the camp.

She was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband, Bud, and her sisters Barbara Laird, Betty McCray, and Susan Jones.

Nancy is survived by her four daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara Diane and Eugene Pringle of Amherst, NH, Karen and Robert Bruning of Bainbridge, NY, JoAnn and Steve Shauger of Cooperstown, NY, and Nancy and Patrick O'Hara of Arnold Lake; her grandchildren Christopher Pringle, Evan Pringle, Michael Burlison, Jody Saunders, Aaron Carrig, Daniel Carrig, and Ashley O'Hara; and her great-grandchildren Ryan Pringle, Rowan Pringle, Brendan Pringle, Shannah Hall, Arianna Hall, and Tristan Carrig, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and step grandchildren.
