WORCESTER - Nancy J. Loft, 77, passed away peacefully November 15, 2014 with her family by her side at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.
She was born July 22, 1937 in Oneonta, the daughter of Walter and Aileen (Bailey) Bartow.
Nancy grew up at Walt's, her families' restaurant in Worcester, where she was a waitress. She had fond memories of all the customers and staff through the years. Her favorite stories to tell were about celebrities that came into the restaurant.
She graduated from Worcester Central School, Class of 1955.
Nancy married Richard D. Loft on December 5, 1964. She and her husband owned and operated Loft Well Drilling and Excavating and Worcester Valley Lumber.
She was an active member of the Worcester United Methodist Church as lay leader and organist for many years. She was always honored to play for many weddings and funerals. She was a past president of the Worcester School Board. Nancy liked watching the Yankees. She also enjoyed going out to eat at Ardy's, The Worcester Inn and Jacks Pub. Many close friends spent time drinking coffee at her kitchen table. Backyard cookouts were popular at her house. She planned great camping trips. Family pets were an important part of her life. Most of all, she loved and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Watching them play sports was one of her favorite things to do.
Nancy had a very kind heart and always thought of others before herself.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Loft of Worcester; daughters, Richi Dee and John Horne Jr. of Worcester and Melody and Norman Reeves of Roseboom; grandchildren, JT Horne of Worcester, Allison Lincoln and finance, Christopher Starr of Richfield Springs, and Emily Lincoln of Roseboom; her brother, Jan and Barbara Bartow of Middlefield and nieces Sue Markusen, Sherry Phillips, Jenna Wratten and their families, along with many other nieces, nephews and extended family that were all important in her life.
She was predeceased by her parents and half brothers Bob and Lois Bartow and Carl and Lena Bartow.
The family wishes to thank the Otsego Manor staff for the compassionate care given to Nancy. Everyone was like her extended family. We would also like to thank the staff at Bassett Healthcare.
