Nancy S.
Milavec
July 7, 1941 – March 7, 2026
Nancy Sue Milavec passed away on March 7, 2026 at Fox Hospital with her granddaughters Maci and Malina at her side.
Nancy was born July 7, 1941 at Fox Hospital Oneonta, daughter of Margaret (Kennedy) and Shirley Green. She was a graduate of Andrew S. Draper Central School, Schenevus and Central City Business Institute, Syracuse.
Nancy married Robert F. Milavec, son of Frank and Mary (Muehl) Milavec, and lived on the family farm on Tuscan Road in Worcester, where they raised their children, Lauren and Jeffrey. She was employed at Hartwick College, the Law Office of Marvin Parshall, and Otsego County DSS.
Nancy was well known in her community and was a leader of many civic organizations including 4-H, Scouts, Worcester and Maryland historical societies, the Southeastern Otsego Health Center, and the Elk Creek Cemetery Association. She was a Foreign Exchange student host mother. She was a 60-year member of the Iroquois Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and took great pride in the work of the Chapter. She also served as the Otsego County Historian and was the first woman elected to the Worcester Town Board.
Nancy found great pleasure in family history and genealogy and enjoyed gathering and documenting her family's histories. She was very proud of her family tree with over 25 branches and often said, "Our family is far more than names and dates; they had lives." Throughout her life she helped the family stay connected by organizing and attending any and all family events that she could.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Robert and son Jeffrey.
She is survived by her daughter, Lauren, (Gregg) Milavec-Horhota, grandchildren Maci, Malina, Garett, Allison, Marian, Melissa, great grandchild, Luna; her "other son" Jim (Mary) and family as well as her brother Timothy (Barbara) Green, his family, David (Cathy) Craig, and his family. She was blessed with so many other relatives and dear friends that are too numerous to name. Her home was the center of the Tuscan Road
neighborhood and all were always welcome. She was very appreciative of her friend, Flo, and of those who helped her remain in her home, including Brooke, Cindy and Jaden.
Calling hours will be held 3 - 5 PM, with the service at 5 PM, on Saturday March 14, at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester. The Rev. Judith Thistle will be officiating. Burial at the Elk Creek Cemetery will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Worcester Emergency Squad, PO Box 191, Worcester, NY 12197.
