ONEONTA - Norman Stiefel, 72, died at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, on Thursday, August 31, 2006, after a long illness.

He was born May 11, 1934 in Oneonta, the son of Frederick and Mabel (Moon) Stiefel.

Norman attended school in Otego, then joined the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was employed by the D&H Railroad for many years.

He is survived by a wife, Kathleen; a daughter, Brienna; six brothers and four sisters and their families.

He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers and one sister.

At Norman's request, there will be no funeral. A private service and burial will be held at a later date.
