ONEONTA – Olga Squaires, 87, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Otsego Manor.
She was born August 20, 1921 in Oneonta, the daughter of Logan and Agnes (Kostiska) Panko.
Mrs. Squaires worked at the Oneonta High School in the cafeteria for several years. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Oneonta and the Women of the Moose Lodge, Oneonta.
She enjoyed visiting with family and friends and was a caring person, and an excellent wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Osborn L. Squaires; a son, Paul Squaires; a sister, Tina and husband, Andrew Tisencheck; daughter-in-law, Betsy Squaires; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son, Gary Squaires and two brothers, Alex and Boris Panko.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24th at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, with the Deacon Vicky Hunter, St. James Episcopal Church, officiating.
