Obituary

OTEGO – Orben C. Loucks, Sr., 73, went to be with his Lord and Savior during the night on Memorial Day, May 25, 2015.

He was born November 4, 1941 in Meridale, NY, the third of six children of Homer and Blanche (Payne) Loucks.

On March 17, 1962 Orben married Kay Miller. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family and enjoyed family reunions.

He was a hard worker and a giver of his time and energy to most anyone who had a need. His work history included working on various local farms during his early years. After is marriage to Kay, he was employed by Oneonta Grocery. Following that he served as a welder for 30 plus years at Medical Coaches, Inc.

His passion and interest included restoring antique cars, especially his "Twilight Time" '55 Ford Victoria, and his involvement with the Reminiscers Antique & Special Car Club of Oneonta, NY. He was also a trustee and member of First Baptist Church in Morris, NY.

Orben is survived by his loving wife, Kay and their children, Orben C. Loucks, Jr. and Lorilee K. (Loucks) Sheviak and husband, Michael, both of Virginia; his three grandchildren, Rebecca K. Loucks, and Danielle and Nathan Sheviak. He is also survived by one brother, H-Charles (Sonny) Loucks and wife, Sandi of West Oneonta; a sister, Diana Roseboom and husband, Morgan of Oneonta; a sister, Shirley Dahl and husband, Robert of Unadilla; and his sister-in-law, Dawn Siems of Oneonta; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, and two sisters, Betty Loucks-Sampson and Margaret (Joan) Loucks-Holbrook.

Calling hours will be 2 to 3 p.m. with the service at 3 p.m., on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Harvey Lange, officiating.

Interment will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.
