WORCESTER _ Patricia Smith, 76, of Worcester, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2008, at Monroe Community Hospital, Rochester, after a lengthy illness.
She was born June 4, 1931, the daughter of Charles T. and Elizabeth (Lux) Faulds in San Pedro, Calif.
Patricia graduated from Worcester Central School in 1949, as well as Monroe Community College and the University of Rochester School of Nursing.
She held several nursing positions in the Rochester area before moving her family back to Worcester in 1971, where she eventually took over the position of school nurse, retiring in 1995. After retiring from her position as school nurse, Patricia continued to stay close to two of her favorite hobbies: books and children, as she served as the librarian at Worcester Free Library. She especially enjoyed her time reading to the young children.
Patricia married Robert J. Smith on April 23, 1955, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Worcester. He predeceased her July 22, 1965.
Patricia is survived by three sons, Kevin (Anne) of Rochester, Brian of Monroe and Tim of Worcester; her four grandsons, Shane, Matthew, Sean and Connor; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce (Doug) Rockefellow, of Hope Mills N.C.; her brother, Dennis (Marguerite) Faulds, of Crystal Lake, Ill.; and her sister in-law, Jackie Faulds, of Worcester.
She was predeceased by her brother, Charles Faulds; and sister, Lois Warner.
Patricia was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Worcester, the Worcester Library and the Worcester Women's Club.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 19, 2008, at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel in Worcester, with the recitation of the Rosary at 6 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Worcester, with the Rev. Edward Golding, as celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
