WORCESTER: Paul Frank Christensen of 12 Cook Street Worcester completed his earthly journey on Friday, June 09, 2006 after a gallant battle with an extreme illness.
Born on April 02, 1946 to Frank and Marion (Frimmel) Christensen in Brooklyn, NY. Paul came to live at Springbrook [formerly Upstate Homes For Children and Adults] in 1974 and has lived at his home on Cook Street since 1986.
Paul was a familiar figure around Worcester. A devoted member of the United Methodist Church, he received great joy by proudly serving in the church choir for many years. His happiest moments included his participation in the annual Cantata and although he was unable to participate this year, his friends in the choir videotaped it for him which he greatly enjoyed and appreciated. He was also actively involved with the Worcester UME Youth and Bible Study Groups. Paul loved to travel, visiting such places as Disney World, Memphis, Nashville, Branson, Mystic, Washington, DC, and NYC being among his favorites.
A dedicated employee of The Arc Otsego Workshop in Oneonta for over 25 years, Paul never missed a day's work.
A self reliant, determined man with a quiet wisdom, Paul was involved with many committees and activities in town. He was well known to give extraordinarily long speeches in appreciation for the joys and achievements of everyone he knew. He was a strong advocate for those who simply could not do for themselves.
Paul will be truly missed by all who knew him especially his sister, Claire Huth of Hohokus, NJ, his nephews and their families Brian and Darlene, Brianna and David.
Matthew and Felicia, Jaime, Jessica, and Alyssa. Stephen and Sharon, and Thomas.
He is also survived by his special friend and mentor, the Rev. Jane Pykus, his friends of the Worcester choir, as well as his extended family and friends at Springbrook. He was predeceased by his best friend James R. Couse who, with Paul always celebrated the simple things in life.
A special visitation for Paul's family and friends will be at 11:00 am at the United Methodist Church, Main Street Worcester to the time of his service at noon on Wednesday June 14, 2006. Interment will be Maple Grove Cemetery.
