Stamford – Paul Thomas Richter, 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown on February 29, 2020.

He was born November 6, 1943 in Manhattan, the son of Arthur Walter and Lillian Theresa (Sarraga) Richter.

While living on Long Island, Paul was a well-known specialty contactor and builder.  He was an amazing craftsman with hands of gold.  Any woodwork he touched he made into something beautiful.

Paul moved to the Stamford area 30 years ago.  He was a broker at Delaware County Real Estate.  He was a past president of the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club.  Paul was instrumental in facilitating the Christmas Feeling Fund, and was active within the Stamford community.

He was a beloved father, grandfather and brother.

He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Ann Richter-Weidler; grandchildren, Jessica, Russell and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Kailynn, Skylar, Arorah, Rose, Ariel and Raven; brother, Gary and Maureen Richter; sister, Julie Richter; several nieces and nephews; and his devoted significant other, Joan Nason.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, and his son, Steven.

Calling hours will be 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with a prayer service at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.
