MARYLAND – Paul E. VanDewerker, 71, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born September 3, 1939 in Otego, the son of Ivan and Hazel (Pickle) VanDewerker.
Paul married Shirley Ann Carpenter on January 1, 1960 in Norwich.
He was employed by Bundy Ready Mix in Oneonta for 33 years as truck driver. He also worked at Otsego Ready Mix and Bernie Bus Line.
Paul was a member of the NYS Hudson Highland Area Retreads Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed riding and he and his wife traveled through 48 states on his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley VanDewerker; children, Rita (Danny) Myhaver of Houston, TX, David VanDewerker of Houston, TX, Robert (Sarah) VanDewerker of Richmondville and Michael (Cyndi) VanDewerker of Mechanicsville; grandchildren, Marcus and Jessica Myhaver and Miya and Tyler VanDewerker; sisters, Janet Silvernail, Elma (Bill) Bruns and Adelaide Edwards; brother, Kenneth (Beatrice) VanDewerker; sister-in-law, Patricia VanDewerker; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and sisters-in-law.
A graveside service at the Maryland Cemetery will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2011 with the Rev. Keith VanDewerker, officiating.
