ONEONTA – Pauline "Polly" Ellen Lasher Cole, 86, passed away October 25, 2016 at A.O Fox Nursing Home, Oneonta.


She was born March 6, 1930 in Oneonta, the daughter of Smith and Evelyn (Masker) Lasher.


Polly married Richard Cole on October 16, 1948 at the Portlandville Methodist Church.


Polly worked for the Town of Maryland as the Tax Collector for many years; also the Puritan Clothing Store in Oneonta, Jamaica Dream Farm in Maryland, and wrote The Community News for the Worcester Times.


She was a past active member of the Maryland Baptist Church and when her sons were growing up, very involved in their activities. She enjoyed genealogy and family history, playing cards, bottle digging, and collecting dolls, angels and barbies.


She is survived by her sons, William Z. (Ruth) Cole of Willow Springs, NC, Jack R. (Suzanne) Cole of Oneonta and Hulls Cove, ME, and Brian S. (Shell) Cole of Maryland; grandchildren, Erik (Kim) Cole, Cyndi (Dwayne) Fowler, Elizabeth Cole and Brian Magnin, Daniel (Danielle) Cole, Timothy (Brittany) Cole, and Kamille Moser; great-grandchildren, Nate and Robbie Cole, William, Anna and James Fowler, Madeline Magnin, Lily Cole, and the eighth baby due in January; her brother, John Henry (Rita) Lasher of Levittown; several nieces and nephews; and her "guardian angel" Sherlock.


She was predeceased by her husband, Richard and a sister, Geraldine Utter.


Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.


The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, October 29, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, with the Rev. Waylen Bray, pastor of the Stamford Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will follow at the
Maryland Cemetery.
