Pearl T. "Polly" Hamilton


Schenevus- Pearl T. "Polly" Hamilton, 89, passed away with her beloved son by her side on Sunday, November 5, 2006 at Bassett Healthcare Cooperstown.


Polly was born in Scranton, PA, the daughter of Arthur and Mae (Davis) Jones.


She married Douglas Hamilton in Scranton on June 10, 1940. Douglas predeceased her in 1959.


Polly was a happy, smiling housewife who never had a discouraging word for anyone. She was a longtime resident of Schenevus who enjoyed observing the outdoors and the changing of the seasons.


She was a resident of the Otsego Manor, her smile, friendliness and positive attitude will be missed by residents and staff alike.


Polly was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #138, a lifetime member of the Schenevus VFW Auxiliary, St. Agnes Guild of the Church of the Holy Spirit, the Otsego County Woman's Club and an election inspector for many years.


Polly is survived by one son, Douglas W. Hamilton Jr. Of Schenevus; one daughter, Judith L. Hamilton of Jefferson; one brother, Arthur M. Jones of Greene, NY; and several nieces and nephews.


A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 9, 2006 at the Heller Funeral Home in Schenevus, with the Rev. Rose Bellen, officiating.


At Polly's request there will be no calling hours.


Interment will follow the service in the Schenevus Cemetery.
