UTICA – Phila Putnam Hall, 81, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the Masonic Care Community.
She was born January 23, 1928, in Syracuse, the daughter of Ronald W. and Phila (Crane) Putnam.
She married Oliver VanZandt Hall on October 28, 1950. He predeceased her on December 19, 2008.
She attended Syracuse University and was a member of the Alpha Phi Fraternity.
Mrs. Hall was an Independent Insurance Broker and co-owned the O.J. Hall and Sons Brokerage in Syracuse with her husband.
She was a member of the Daughters of the Nile, where she served as Queen in 1977.
Mrs. Hall and her husband, wintered in Punta Gorda, Florida and summered on Crumhorn Mountain in Maryland, NY.
She is survived by sons, Stephen (Joan) Hall of Marina Del Ray, CA, Douglas (Leslie) Hall of Jeffersonville, VT, and David (Kathleen) Hall of Clarksville, TN; nine grandchildren; a great-grand son and three great-granddaughters; a sister, Beverly Day of McKinney, TX; a brother, Bradford Putnam of Liverpool, NY and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Whalen.
A graveside memorial service will take place at the Maryland Cemetery at a later date.
