SCHENEVUS – Polly J. Knapp, 87, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 20, 2018 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

She was born December 25, 1930 in Cooperstown, the daughter of Harry and Maude (Schenedker) Thayer.

Polly married Don Knapp in Cooperstown on June 30, 1950 and began their life together in Elk Creek.

Polly was a lifetime resident of Otsego County. She grew up in Cooperstown moving to Elk Creek in 1950.  There she raised her children to school age and went to work at Bassett Hospital until retirement.  She was a loving homemaker and involved in many organizations including the Westford Home Bureau, The First Baptist Church, Schenevus and The Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 138.  Polly progressed through the many stations of the Eastern Star and spent one year as a State Officer.

She is survived by her husband, Don Knapp; children, Ted and wife, Joanna Knapp and Terry and wife, Carol Knapp, all of Schenevus, Karen and husband, Kent Bernard of Florida; 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. with the funeral service at 7 p.m., Sunday, June 24, 2018 at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Fred Johnson, officiating.

Private interment will be held at Elk Creek Cemetery.
