SHARON SPRINGS – Raymond Thomas Rooney, 79, passed away December 1, 2015 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.



He was born September 7, 1936 in Union Beach, NJ, the son Joseph and Marie (Moore) Rooney.



While living in San Diego, CA, Raymond was a building handyman. He retired in the late 1990's, moving to the Worcester area to reconnect with his family. During the last 5 years he has been residing at the Marchand Manor in Sharon Springs.



Raymond was an avid reader. He enjoyed a good movie and listening to his nice collection of music.



He predeceased by four brothers, George, Leo, John and Joseph Rooney and four sisters, Elsie Hughes, Patricia Allocca, Mary Winegard, and Frances Utter.



He is survived by his sister-in-law, Catherine Rooney of Worcester and many nieces and nephews.



There will be no calling hours.



The funeral mass will be 11 a.m., Monday, December 7, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Ronald Green, MM, as celebrant.



Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
