Raymond Schaffer, 80, passed away Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Oneonta Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born May 25, 1929 in Maryland, NY, the son of Raymond C. and Beulah (Collison) Schaffer.
Raymond was a machine operator for Exmet Corp. in Prospect, CT for 31 years and was a security guard for Laurel Heights Hospital for 11 years. He retired to Worcester 15 years ago.
Raymond enjoyed engine shows, watching westerns, and hunting and fishing with his son-in-law, Dick and his grandson, Richie.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian; 8 daughters, Jackie Lane, Mary and William Parks, Debra and Richard Borggreen, Judy and Richard Lindberg, Wendy and Rob Schaffer, Linda and Anthony Westman, Susan Schaffer and Ethel and Harry Patchell; 13 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Katricia "Pat" and Jack Tripp, Carol and Douglas Benedict and Wanda Marcella.
Raymond was predeceased by his sister, Joan Lighthall and his brother, Jerry Schaffer.
A calling hour will be held Sunday, April 25, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral service time at 3:00 p.m. at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 155 Main St. in Worcester.
Burial will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family.
