ONEONTA – Richard S. Geissinger, 85, passed away Monday, August 26, 2013 at The Otsego Manor.
He was born July 4, 1928 in Huntingdon, PA, the son of Clarence and Verna (Snyder) Geissinger.
Richard married Mary Ellen Scott on October 14, 1952 in Huntingdon, PA. She predeceased him October 23, 2012.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Campaign Stars.
Richard retired from Charlotte Valley School, where he was a custodian. He was a hard worker and continued working until the age of 80 at varies jobs.
He is survived by his children, Debra and Bruce Warner of Akron, OH, Richard and Danielle Geissinger of Laurens, and Kim Lindberg of Port Charlotte, FL; grandchildren, John Lindberg, Jr., Justin (Megan) Lindberg and Alexandria Geissinger; a great-granddaughter, Lillian "Izzy" Lindberg; a brother, Robert (Pat) Geissinger of Huntingdon, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Catherine Wilson and Betty Isenberg.
Calling hours will be 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta. The memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Mel Farmer, officiating.
Interment will take place in Pennsylvania at the convenience of the family.
